Capacitor, Cordova, and the Web Native Revolution
Neptune Software recently announced a new partnership that will bring Capacitor, the popular open-source cross-platform native bridge, to developers and teams building mobile, web, and desktop applications with Neptune DXP.
Capacitor—a direct replacement for Cordova—has surged in popularity in recent years, and was recently rated #1 in developer satisfaction for mobile. In this talk, we’ll discuss how the mobile and web development landscape has changed dramatically since Cordova was first released back in 2009, and why switching from Cordova to Capacitor can help enterprise teams dramatically increase app performance, boost app security, and more easily access native device features.
We’ll share easy steps for migrating your app from Cordova to Capacitor, and discuss how the old definition of “hybrid” is giving way to a new mode of cross-platform development: Web Native.

Developer Experience and the Low Code Paradox: A view of the modern tech landscape
In this talk, James Governor will outline industry trends converging to drive the need and opportunity for low code as part of the toolkit of modern application delivery. But as enterprises, startups and scaleups increasingly appreciate the value of addressing the developer experience gap, low code and no code threaten to tip the balance back, making the lives of professional developers harder rather than easier. So how can we make both professional developers and low coders productive and happy? The answer is architecture and process, addressing the social technical systems needed to build and develop digital services in a modern way. We will look at the past, present and future of the dialectic of low code, no code and pro code.
Speaker Bio
James founded RedMonk in 2002 with Stephen O’Grady. Together, they focus on developers as the real key influencers in tech. Understanding that people choose technology because of gut instincts not facts per se. An ex-journalist, James has managed teams and news agendas in weekly publication grind. Field Inspections and Asset Data Collection for the Electricity Industry in Australia
SA Power Networks has the challenge where a large number of assets are in remote bushland environments, where connectivity is unavailable, the ability to work offline is a must and always a challenge of any of their mobility solutions.
The challenge is to provide field users the functionality to deliver an in-depth collection of asset information and additional capability to interact with their SAP asset information.
Additionally with the impending upgrade of their backend asset management system there is a need for a timely new mobility inspection tool – Blueworx – which is being rolled out and there are over 70,000km’s to cover.
Additional improvements have focused on the UX side of the tool, lowering the cognitive load on inspectors, and streamlining their time spent interacting with the tool. This is also being used in conjunction with their UAV drone fleet and currently training ground drones. This mass data capture will spearhead out machine learning libraries of asset classification and defect recognition systems, which are to be built into future desktop inspection process’s within Blueworx.
